About

My work takes the form of interactive museum display and exhibition structures, in this mode of production I investigate the materiality of information, and the process of knowledge production. I begin every piece by researching and experimenting with a topic, I then engage with a spectrum of physical to digital media to create pieces that unpacks the connection between an idea and its material form. As a Librarian, Digital Humanist, User Experience Designer, and Artist I utilize the production and investigation processes of my disciplines to reveal a topic to an audience. My work incorporates performance and audience interaction. I use the embodiment of the traditional identity of the librarian as liaison and service professional to welcome audience members to read, play, and interact with my work. I seek to complicate traditional means of communication and publication structures, and encourage alternative modes of communicating about art, science, and research.

I am a creative program manager at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I received a Master’s degree in Digital Humanities from The City University of New York’s Graduate Center, and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois. In my role as an information scientist and a UX Researcher, I am especially interested in how technology can facilitate new levels of engagement and access to information. I use my visual art to grapple with issues of information perception, in my work I seek to communicate complex scientific topics, and encourage alternative modes of presentation and audience engagement.
